Hirschland Leads Bears Baseball to Series Sweep vs. North Atlanta in 9-0 Victory, March 18th

Jon Hirschland shackled the North Atlanta hitters all game long and the Cambridge bats exploded for 9 hits in the shutout win Friday night, March 18th at Cambridge field.  The Bears have now won 6 region games in a row to move to 6-3 in region and 8-3 overall.

The home team got things started in the second.  Hot-hitting Bradley Wiedman smashed a double to center to get things going.  A Luke Foote walk and a Brett Hawkins single loaded the bases.  Weidman came in to score on a Cameron Moore fielder's choice but that was it for the inning.  Cambridge struck for 4 runs in the third on a grand slam by Hayden Onorato over the fence in right center.  Austin Weiermiller and Conner Young reached on errors and Pete Gottschalk walked to set the stage for the Onorato home run.

Up 5-0, the Bears struck for 3 more in the fourth.  Gottschalk singled and moved to second on an error.  Young drove a line drive single to right center to score Gottschalk.  Young then stole second then scored on a Wiedman single.  A Luke Foote single moved Weidman to third where he would later score on a wild pitch.  The Bears would score one more in the 6th to make the final score 9-0.

Hirschland shut down the Warrior bats going 6 innings and allowing one hit with his efficient 57-pitch performance.  He struck out four and walked one. Kyle Loess entered the game in the 7th and recorded a scoreless inning on the mound.

Onorato's blast highlighted the offense with his 4-RBI performance. Bradley Wiedman and Luke Foote had two hits each.  Wiedman also scored 2 runs, as did Gottschalk, Young and Onorato. Wiedman also drove in a pair of runs.

The Bears continue region play with a series with region leader Kell.  Game one is at Kell HS on Monday, March 21st at 5:55 PM.

Go Bears!
