Bears JV Baseball Game Recap, Week of March 23rd

Cambridge Bears JV jump on Kell early and succeed with a 19-5 win, Fri. March 27th

The Bears jumped out to an early lead on Kell and captured a 19-5 victory on Friday.

With 11 runs in the first three innings, the Bears left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Sam Waylock, a two-run single by Walker Peed, a groundout by Theo Carr, and an RBI single by Jack Adler during the first inning and an RBI single by Waylock, an RBI single by Reese MacMillan, a two-run double by Adler, and a two-run error in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Bears. Sam Waylock went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Bears.

Kell couldn't get anything going as long as Jake McAfee was on the hill. McAfee held Kell hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one. Waylock allowed five runs over three innings and recorded the victory. Waylock struck out one, walked one and gave up six hits.

The Bears easily handled Kell pitching as six hitters combined for 13 hits, 14 RBIs and 14 runs scored. The Kell pitcher allowed eight runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out none.

The Bears increased their lead with two runs in the fourth. A sacrifice fly scored Carr for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Peed's single, bringing home Christian Lail.

The Bears tacked on another six runs in the fifth. Andrew Spears singled, plating Adler to start the inning.

 

Cambridge Bears JV can't stop Kell's seventh inning rally in 9-7 loss, Wed. March 25th

A tight game was decided in the seventh inning as the Bears fell to Kell 9-7 in seven innings on Wednesday.

Jack Adler was charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out two.

The top of the first saw Kell take an early lead, 2-0. The Bears survived Kell's surge and put up one run of their own in the third on an error.

Kell didn't relinquish the lead after scoring six runs in the seventh inning when it scored on four errors.

 

Cambridge Bears JV drop 16-3 contest to River Ridge, Tues. March 24th (Game 1)

The Bears collected five hits, and fell 16-3 to River Ridge on Tuesday.

Conner Young did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Bears, reaching base twice. He scored one run and had one RBI and doubled in the third inning.

The River Ridge pitcher got it done on the hill on the way to a win, pitching two shutout innings, with three strike outs, two walks, and one hit. River Ridge's Bluhaugh, Gifford, Pavolony combined for four hits and five RBIs.

Jarren Clark ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs in one inning, walked two and struck out none.

The game's last lead went to River Ridge thanks to a first inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on two doubles.

One Bears run crossed the plate in the top half of the second, making the score 4-1. A groundout by Adler sparked the Bears rally. Christian Lail flew out to end the threat.

It didn't take long for River Ridge to respond as it scored six runs of its own in the second. River Ridge scored on a walk, a bases loaded walk, a passed ball, an error, and a two-run error.

After pushing across two runs in the top of the third, the Bears faced just a 10-3 deficit. An RBI double by Young and an error triggered the Bears comeback.

 

Cambridge Bears JV gave up a seventh inning lead to River Ridge in 7-6 defeat, Tues, March 24th (Game 2)

The Bears lost the ballgame after losing the lead in the seventh inning Tuesday, as River Ridge grabbed a 7-6 victory in seven innings.

Theo Carr went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Bears. He singled in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.

River Ridge was sparked by Bluhaugh and Wiken, who teamed up for five hits and two RBIs.

Thomas Harpold was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

The bottom of the second saw River Ridge take an early lead, 4-0. River Ridge 's threat began with a single by Herring. A single by Wiken then moved Martin from second to third. Bluhaugh tripled, bringing home Herring and Wiken. River Ridge then tacked on more runs when Bluhaugh scored on an RBI single by Burton and Burton scored on an error.

The Bears brought home one run in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fifth, the Bears scored on an RBI single by Kyrie Jenkins, plating Christian Lail.

River Ridge survived the Bears surge and put up two runs of its own in the sixth. River Ridge scored on a two-run single.

River Ridge never trailed after scoring one run in the seventh.
