Bears Varsity Baseball Sweep Sequoyah; Advance to GHSA State Tournament

Senior Captain Brian Moore's two run homer in the bottom of the sixth broke up a scoreless tie, and vaulted the Bears into the State Playoffs in just the third year of Cambridge High School's history.

The victory gave the Bears a sweep of Sequoyah in the best-of-three game playoff...final score Bears-2, Sequoyah-0.

Sophomore lefty Austin Weiermiller pitched a complete game two hitter, striking out four.  Austin also had two of the Bears six hits.

Senior Nick Sieverts, Junior Pete Gottschalk and Sophomore Hayden Onorato all singled to round out the Bears attack.

Cambridge honored its four seniors Parker Currier, Brian Moore, Nick Sieverts and Sam Wilson in a pregame ceremony.  In prepared remarks, Bears Head Coach Brian Jeffrey stated, "To the class of 2015, we honor you today not just as baseball players, but as men of integrity, dedication, and selflessness.  You have represented your family, school, community, and team in a manner that is nothing short of extraordinary."

To kick-off the State Tournament campaign, the Bears will travel to Loganville Friday, May 1st for a doubleheader to take on the Loganville Red Devils.

Go Bears!
