Bears Varsity Baseball take Playoff Game 1 against Sequoyah 11-5

The Cambridge Bears beat Sequoyah 11-5 on Wednesday, April 22nd, with an 11 hit attack and strong pitching.

Brian Moore racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Cambridge Bears. He singled in the first and third innings and homered in the seventh inning.

Sophomore righty Jonathan Hirschland struck out five and walked none, allowing just three earned runs to notch his fourth consecutive complete game victory. 

Texas Tech recruit Lanning ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. The Southpaw allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out three.

The Bears got the scoring going early pushing three runs across the dish in the first on a sacrifice by Pete Gottschalk and a single by Moore. The Bears tallied one run in each of the second, fourth and sixth. In the second, the Cambridge Bears scored on a bases loaded walk by Lanning, scoring Davis DasherNick Sieverts went 2-4 and Jake Swiacki was 2-4 with an RBI.

Game two of the series is Thursday April 23rd at Cambridge. First pitch for Cambridge Senior night will be 5:55 PM.
