Bears Varsity Baseball Drops Close Game to Kell, Wednesday, March 25th

The Cambridge Bears lost 7-4 in seven innings at Kell High School on Wednesday, March 25th, despite outhitting Kell seven to six.

Brian Moore was hot from the plate for the Bears. Moore went 1-3, drove in one and scored two runs, including a Home Run in the seventh inning.

Kell pitcher Jake Lecroy got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings. Lecroy struck out eight, walked one and gave up five hits.

Hayden Onorato took the loss for the Bears. He lasted 2 2/3 innings, walked six, struck out three, and allowed three runs.

In the top of the first, the Bears grabbed the early lead, 1-0,  beginning with a single from Austin Weiermiller. After a quick strike from the Bears, Kell responded with three runs in the third. Kell scored on a two-run error and an RBI single by Cameron James.

The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as Kell scored one run on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Mitchell.

Kell piled on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. A ground out scored Bryan Grant to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up with a steal of home by James.

The solo home run by Moore in the top of the seventh helped the Bears close their deficit to 7-4.  Kell closed the game out when Anthony Porter got Onorato to fly out.

Next up, the Bears host Kell Friday, March 27th at 5:55pm.
