Bears Varsity Baseball Celebrates 1st Victory

Bears Varsity Baseball Celebrates 1st Victory

The Cambridge Varsity Baseball team celebrates its first ever victory with a 8-6 win over King's Ridge Christian on Wednesday night.

This was a memorable night filled with many firsts for the program.

Jared Williams led the Bears on the Mound as he recorded the first ever pitching victory.  He pitched five (5) solid innings while striking out three (3).  Keegan Mulholland shut out the Tiger hitters in the top of the 6th to set up closer Kevin Little for the save, which is the first save in Bear History.

Defensively, the Bears were stellar.  Middle infield duo Senior Matthew Motz and Sophomore Brian Moore turned two double plays to halt the Tiger's offensive attack.  Joey Santoro was tremendous behind the plate as he kept the Tiger runners at bay and made several key putouts at the plate.

Brian Moore also led the Bears offensively as he belted a two-run homerun in the bottom of the 4th to put the Bears up 8-3.  Freshman third baseman Brett Hawkins helped the Bear's cause by blasting an RBI double in the bottom of the 3rd.  Overall, the Bear's victory was a total, team victory.

The Bears will lace up the cleats at 5:55pm on Friday night at West Forsyth High School to take on the Wolverines before entering Region play.
