Welcome from Athletic Director Matt Lawless

Welcome to CambridgeBears.com Year 4!

Cambridge Bears Fans,

Welcome back to Bear Country! On behalf of the Cambridge High School Athletic Department, Cambridge Administration, Cambridge Athletic Association, student-athletes, coaches, and staff, I would like to personally thank each of you for your dedication and commitment to Cambridge High School Athletics throughout the past three years. Year three was highlighted by hard fought competitions, thrilling victories, and multiple state championships and state championship appearances. In fact, the Cambridge Athletic Department was ranked the 3rd amongst all 5A high schools in the state of Georgia according to the Georgia Athletic Director’s Association in just three short years. It is strikingly evident that the sky is the limit in year four.

Cambridge High School will continue to serve as one of the newest member of the Fulton County School system and the Georgia High School Association. Fulton County Schools, GHSA, and the leadership of the Cambridge High School, coaches and staff will work together to ensure that our student-athletes will not only be successful on the playing field but in the classroom as well. Cambridge High School will provide numerous tutorial programs, support systems, and a graduation coach to ensure the overall success of our student-athletes. We implore you to speak with our highly qualified coaches and staff or visit our guidance office to inquire about the numerous academic programs and courses offered to our student-athletes.

Our student-athletes will also have access to top-notch facilities that continue to grow at a rapid pace after just three short years. These facilities include one artificial turf field lined for multi-sport use, two full size gyms, a natural-grass soccer pitch and practice field, an all-weather track, a brand new Cross Country trail which will open for competition this year, five full tennis courts, a recently renovated baseball and softball field, a state-of-the-art athletic and academic weight room, and a large sports training facility. We truly feel as though our athletic resources are second to none, and we aspire to grow these facilities year after year.

The future growth of our athletic programs truly rests upon the involvement of our coaches, staff, and--perhaps most importantly--our community. We encourage all Cambridge Bears fans to get involved in the development and success of all of our sports programs. For more information on the Cambridge Athletic Association and booster clubs and to see how you can help to share our unique vision for Cambridge Bears Athletics, please visit “Support the Bears” link on our website.

As Athletic Director, I constantly reflect on my own experience as a former high school and college athlete and recall the impact that my athletic endeavors have had on me both personally and professionally. I truly believe that some of life’s greatest lessons are learned on the playing field. Accordingly, sportsmanship and integrity are virtues that will continue to define our athletic teams at Cambridge High School. Our coaches and players will practice these ideals on a daily basis. I would like to personally thank each of you in advance for also modeling these qualities for our student-athletes.

Once again, we thank you for your continued support and for your involvement in our student-athletes’ academic and athletic success. We look forward to continuing to establish a winning tradition both on the field and in the classroom at Cambridge High School. Thank you again, and enjoy another memorable year for Cambridge Bears Athletics where we are ALL IN ALL THE TIME!

Go Bears!
