Lauren Holliday, Varsity Swimming

Lauren Holliday, Varsity Swimming

Congratulations to Sophomore Lauren Holliday, the Cambridge Athlete of the Week!

Lauren is one of the captains of the varsity swim team. She has been a great role model and motivator for the team. Coach Lauren Hall:  "She is always willing to swim whatever she is asked to for the benefit of our entire team."  At North Georgia Regions, Lauren qualified to return to finals in all of her individual and relay events. Three of her four events were back-to-back, and one of those included the 500 freestyle. Lauren was going to scratch (or not swim) one of her events, but the girls’ team was so close to placing in the top three that she volunteered to swim all four of her races so that the team could earn points that could get them a trophy.  "Lauren was literally crawling out of the pool by her last event because she gave everything she had in her events for her team," says Coach Hall.

Lauren was part of the girls’ medley relay team that placed first place in North Georgia Regions out of 17 competing school from all over the state, and Lauren will be part of the medley relay team, the 200 freestyle relay team and the 400 freestyle relay team that will compete at state championships at Georgia Tech on February 8th–9th.

"Lauren has worked so hard all season and has dramatically improved her competitive performance in her respective events and looks to drop even more time at state championships, " says Coach Hall.

"Lauren is phenomenal both in the classroom and in the pool," says Cambridge Athletic Director Matt Lawless.

Congratulations Lauren ... You are the Cambridge Athlete of the Week!
