Congratulations to Freshman Jake Todd, the Cambridge Athlete of the Week!
Jake Todd is a freshman on the varsity swim team and has been a
phenomenal athlete all season. He was the only swimmer to qualify
to compete in the fastest heat in any event from the Cambridge
squad at North Fulton County Championships in mid-January. He
finished 8th overall in the 500-freestyle event. During
the weekend of January 19th, Jake qualified to compete at the North
Georgia Regions in his 500-freestyle and 100-backstroke. In his
500-freestyle, Jake dropped almost ten seconds from his best time
to swim a 5:18.79 and earn third place, which qualified him to
compete in Georgia State Championships at Georgia Tech in February.
Jake also swam a best time in his 100-backstroke with a 1:02. He
will attempt to swim a state-qualifying time at the Karen Blackman
Invitational this upcoming weekend, January 26th, in order to
expand his State Meet schedule. He will also be joining the
200-medley relay, the 200-freestyle relay, and the 400-freestyle
relay in an attempt to get the Cambridge boys' relays to qualify to
compete in championships as well.
Swimming Head Coach Lauren Hall: "He is always willing to swim
whatever event I need him to and continues to push himself to do
better than he did before. Jake always has a great attitude and
supports his teammates in all circumstances. He has given up
swimming in many bigger competitions through Swim Atlanta to
participate in the Cambridge meets so that he can be a good
teammate. Jake always puts his team ahead of himself and is an
overall outstanding person. I am especially excited to see him
improve this year because he has three more seasons after this to
keep improving and representing our school. Jake Todd is one of the
best examples of what Cambridge has to offer. His team is extremely
proud of him, and so am I."
Congratulations Jake ... You are the Cambridge Athlete of the Week!
