Congratulations to Junior Maggie McGinty, the Cambridge Athlete of the Week!
Maggie McGinty, a junior, is emerging as one of the true
leaders of the Bears inaugural varsity swim team. Maggie
earned the first state cut of the season for Cambridge High School
when she swam the 100 meter breaststroke in early December.
Her time of 1:13:76 not only placed first but qualified her for the
state championships at the end of the season.
Varsity Coach Lauren Hall says Maggie has stood out as an amazing
swimmer and leader on the team. Whether it is making sure
everyone has the proper uniform on for competition or working with
a swimmer on his or her dives, she is making her mark at
Cambridge. "As captain, she's brought the team together and
helped set standards and expectations for our team along with
showing swimmers the commitment needed to have a successful
program," says Hall. Hall also says Maggie is willing to swim
any event and goes above and beyond to be an active leader on the
team. "She's helping set a foundation for the team that will
impact the program for years to come."
Congratulations Maggie ... You are the Cambridge Athlete of the Week!
